How to Speed up Windows 7 and Make it a Super Speedy Work Place

There are different things that you should do to boost up your windows 7.  Because windows is an operating system. An operating system runs with many kind of things. However I don't want to wast times. Let's take a look.





Windows 7 was made to be speedy. But even you can make fast if you maintain the rules for it.



1. Minimum Requirements for Running Windows 7:


1) 1GHz processor (32bit/x86 or 64bit)
2) 1GB RAM
3) 16GB free disk space
4) DirectX9 graphics support with 128MB graphics memory (for getting Aero interface)(Optional)
5) DVD R/W drive

1. Right Click on “Computer” Icon at the desktop and select “Manage”.
2. Click “Services and Applications” in the “Computer Management” window.
3. Click on “Services”.
4. Look for “Windows Search” out of other services.
5. Right Click on “Windows Search” from the list and select “Properties”.
6. The “Windows Search Properties Window” will open. From “Start-up type” click on the drop-down menu and select “Disabled”.
7. Click “Apply” then “OK” and now you are disabled search indexing feature in windows 7.

3. Disable Unwanted Visual Effects in windows 7 to speed up :


1. For this right click on ” Computer” icon on desktop and select “Properties” from the right click menu.
2. Click on ” Advanced System Settings ” from the left pane to open up the ” System Properties ” window.
3. Select the “Advanced” tab from it. Then Under ” Performance ” click ” Settings “. Choose ” Custom: ” Options From it.
4. Now untick all the options and select only the last four options. See the screen shot below.

5. Now press " OK " and you are done.




4. Disable User Account Control Feature in Windows 7 :


1. From the Control Panel open the ” User Accounts and Family Safety ” > User Account.
2. Click the User Account Control settings link.
3. Now just Drag the Slider towards “Never Notify”.

4. Click “OK” and Reboot your system.




5. Disable Aero Transparency in windows 7 :


1. Right Click on your Desktop and select ” Personalize ” click the Window Color Tab.
2. Uncheck the Box saying ” Enable Transparency ” and press OK.

6. Use Ready Boost service to get extra speed :
Ready boost is a feature where you can use your usb pen-drive as a virtual ram to speedup your windows 7. 
1. Insert your USB drive.(equal or greater than 4GB).
2. Right click on USB drive, go to properties and select ready boost. Now tick on " use the device" check box.
3. You can configure how much memory you want to use.




7. Turn Off Unused features in Windows 7 :


1. Go control panel and open " Programs and Features ".
2. Click the ” Turn Windows features on or off ” from the left pane.
3. Now uncheck all the Feature that you don’t use in Windows 7 and restart the system for the changes to take effect.

8. Change Power Plan to Get More Speed in Windows 7 :


1. Click the ” Power Options ” in the Control panel.
2. Click the down arrow showing ” Change Power Plans ” to see the ” High Performance ” power plan
3. Now just activate the ” High Performance ” plan and that’s it.
4. You may go for the advanced settings for further tweaking if you want.

9. Disable Thumbnail Preview feature :


1. Double Click on ” Computer ” >click on the “Organize” drop-down menu and select the “Folder and Search options”
2. Under ‘Files and Folders’ section, go to the “View” tab and tick the check box showing “Always show icons, never thumbnails” check box.


10. Disable Unwanted Start-up Programs :


1. Type ” msconfig ” in the “RUN” option from start menu press [Enter] to open up the System Configuration Utility.
2. Now navigate to the “Start Up” tab.
3. Untick the Entries which are not needed.

11. Disable Unwanted System Sounds :


1. Type mmsys.cpl in RUN From the Windows 7 Start menu search box and press [Enter].
2. Navigate to the “Sounds” tab.
3. Now from under “Sound Scheme:” select “No Sounds” > Click “Apply” > “OK”.
4. You can keep some of your favorite sounds turned on if you want, but sounds played during the Windows 7 start up, shutdown, Logon, log off, start navigation etc should be set to none if you want some real speed boost.
